Nancy Shepherd Rector

Nancy is survived by her husband Billy Keith Rector, son William “Keith” Rector, and daughter Mary Elizabeth Torkelson. Nancy was preceded in death by her son Robert Earl Rector. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Keifer Rector, John Evan Torkelson, and Lillian Torkelson.

Nancy was born and raised in Houston, TX. She and her brother Don Shepherd grew up in the West University area and attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Nancy graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, TX. She then attended Texas Tech University and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority.

Nancy met her husband Billy in Bellaire, TX and they married in 1957. Nancy and Billy lived in Spokane, Washington and Milwaukee, Wisconsin before returning to Houston in 1978 and living in the suburb of Spring, TX. Nancy and her family attended Spring Woods United Methodist Church.

Nancy was the wife of an Aggie and the mother of a son and daughter who are also Aggies. She was known to entertain children as Mrs. Claus at her neighborhoods holiday events. Nancy had a tremendous love of animals and always had a variety of pets at home, she had a willing spirit to help those in need, and a great sense of humor.

Nancy was dearly loved by her family and friends and she will be missed by many.
