Norma Jean Lewis Anderson Norma Jean Lewis Anderson, age 82, went to join her Lord June 9, as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident. Norma was born December 18, 1924 in Austin, TX, grew up at 3606 Windsor Rd. and spent the rest of her life in the house next door. She graduated from UT in 1945 with a bachelor's in Sociology and married Thomas Wynn Anderson in August of the same year. All of her life Norma was a teacher - beginning at age 16 when she served as a girl scout leader, up to her last days teaching her great-grandson to read. She returned to UT for a Master's degree in Education and began teaching in Austin public schools in 1960. She taught first grade for eight years, special education for sixteen years, and continued to teach literacy after her retirement in 1985. She spent 20 years teaching ESL with Women International (WIN), sharing not only a new language, but also her love of God, and the fellowship of a new community. She was always an active member of whatever church she attended beginning at 6 months in the Cradle Roll of First Baptist Church. She was a lifelong choir member with a passion for missions. Norma was an artist at heart, and loved to paint, draw, and garden. She was an enthusiastic photographer, rarely to be seen without her camera. She and Tom traveled extensively, spending many of their 61 anniversaries in a new place. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many, many hearts that she touched with her radiance. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, R.A. Lewis Jr. Norma is survived by her husband; sons: James Anderson and wife Becky, of Miami, Eric Anderson and wife Valerie, of Austin, and Gavin Anderson and wife Pat of Austin.
