Norman was born on October 10th, 1927 in Centralia, Illinois. His family was involved with the railroad, which sparked a life-long interest. He served in the Army of the United States during the Korean War of which he was grateful of the opportunities he was given. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and worked many years for Bell Telephone, General Electric and Eagle Signal.
He enjoyed anything related to the railroad and especially electric rail and was a long time member of CERA. He pursued his interests in music, history and classic movies and was active until his sudden passing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Emiko, of 61 years. He is survived by his three children, Barbara West, Michael West and his wife, Vicki and Charles West. Also survived by six grandchildren, Heather and Keith Pigg, Matthew West, Emily and Cody Galbreath, Victor West, Nina Caserio, Angie Caserio and five great grand children.
The family will hold a private service to celebrate Norman's life. Interment in Austin, Texas.
