Olivia T. “Lily” Ojeda, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away after a powerful fight with a post surgical complication on August 20, 2025, in her hometown of Austin, Texas, at the age of 74. Her warmth, creativity, and vibrant spirit touched
the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.
Born on September 16, 1950, in Austin, Texas, Olivia was the cherished daughter of Charles Ojeda (deceased) and Julia Hernandez. A proud Austin native, which she loved to brag about to everyone she met, she spent her years building a close knit family and embracing every milestone with grace and gratitude. Olivia was a lifelong learner, who was proud to be in the first graduating class of Crockett High School where her class photo still hangs today, Olivia also attended Central Texas College, both a
significant achievement that she cherished deeply. She went on to marry and raise three children, creating a nurturing home filled with love, kindness, and support.
Before Olivia was a mother, grandmother, or great grandmother, she was Lily, a daughter and a sister with a young vibrant soul filled with excitement and an adventurous spirit alongside her brothers and sisters. Growing up on Fletcher St. in Austin, Texas, and working at the local burger stand on Fletcher St. and S 1st, from there she got to see her beloved town grow into the home she left behind.
Olivia was a brave and strong person, even braving the fear of getting a tattoo for the first time late in life of nothing other than her birth flower Aster, in her favorite colors Burnt Orange and Sapphire Blue. Olivia was known most by her family, as Lily, and she loved nothing more than to spend time with family around a table listening to music, singing, and playing a game. Count yourself blessed if you had the privilege of playing a game of 10,000 or Gin Rummy with her, she was competitive, but most of all enjoyed the love and memories built with family while playing a game together. Olivia would sing all night if you let her, and you would hear a wide range from classics like Etta James “I’d Rather Go Blind” or “At last” to Keith Urban “Blue Ain’t You Color”. She was the person who you could always count on, she was always there for you, whether you needed a ride or just to call and have a conversation for hours on the phone, she was always there. Olivia had a passion for style and jewelry, she would go to her favorite store “Walmart” and spend 8 hours riding her cart around every isle just to leave with a new blouse and couple accessories.
Olivia worked at CPL Light Company and as a Dispatcher for The Eagle Lake, Tx Police Department, from there she moved with her family to Mathis, Tx where Olivia worked at the CPL Light Company in Corpus Christi, Tx, and then began working for the City of Austin, Austin Energy from 1998 and retired in 2013. Olivia would wake up every day at four in the morning so that she had time to put together her outfit for the day, and she never left the house without her outfit matching her necklaces, bracelets, rings, and watch. In the span of her career, whether she was in Austin, Victoria, Eagle Lake, or small town Mathis Tx, Olivia took a strong pride in her work ethic and cherished the loving friendships she made
along the way.
