

Olivio Asoka Gamini DeSilva- Ranasinghe, 74 of Austin Texas, retired Tea Planter passed away unexpectedly Thursday September 21st. Asoka was born in Sri Lanka. He attended St. Josephs College, Colombo for his education and earned a degree in Agriculture. He was a kind, proud, and loving husband to Sarojini, father to Michael and Olivia, and a phenomenal grandfather to Michael, Gabirel, Liam and Lucas. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Michael and Mary DeSilva -Ranasinghe as well as brothers Angelo, Ranjith, Nihal, and Noel. He leaves behind siblings Joan, Bega, Rita, Ranjan, Gloria, and Shanthi.
His many hobbies included classic automobiles, cricket, astronomy, and learning new things. He was an intelligent and generous man who was extremely passionate for classic British cars. He had a way of warming the hearts of people he interacted with and was loved by all. He adored his sisters calling them often for long visits. He and his brothers shared the same passion and could sit and talk classic cars and tea planting for hours. Asoka loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with his whole heart. He made sure they knew how much he loved them. His face lit up every time he saw his grandchildren. No matter where he lived in the world, he made time for everyone. He appreciated everyone and everything and will be greatly missed by many. Please keep the DeSilva-Ranasinghe family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their beloved Asoka.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin Texas, 78731. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of his service.
