I met Mr. Pat when I was in the six grade.  He was a friend of my parents Joe and Elvira Moreno.  Mr. Pat worked briefly at Boat Town of Texas as a mechanic with my Dad who did the body work on the boats.

Mr. Pat rented a house behind the cafe located across the street from Boat Town.  I use to walk his dog Dammit, which I had to shorten to Mr. D. on my lunch.

I have very kind memories of Mr. Pat being a very good, kind and generous man.  Slipping me a dollar or two when my parents were not looking and throwing me a wink.  The comic books I bought and we shared are the memories of a lifetime for a boy.  There was a Spiderman edition I remember telling Mr. Pat about and I was having problems finding.  One evening I got home Mr. Pat was sitting on the front porch enjoying a cold one with my father.  I walked up shook his hand and said hello.  He had a childish grin that could never hide a secret.  He said go look on the front seat of my car.  My eyes widen with such joy.  I remember enthusiastically  saying, “NO WAY”!! There was the edition I had been looking for, for weeks.  Mr. Pat was such a good story teller.  I remember asking where he found it and he proceeded in detail telling me how he was in some town and they had it on displayed on the window and the only reason he knew about the edition was because I had shared how difficult it was to find.  I hung on every word and of course shared the story that was like gold with my friends.  I took the comic to school after I enjoyed reading it and I was the hit of the school and shared the comic book with comic friend enthusiasts.

I have a memory of meeting Mrs. Mary once and to this day I remember how happy Mr. Pat was to introduce her.

Please except my condolences. My husband Curtis Noble worked with your dad at Harvey Electric for many years. Pat was a very nice man and Curtis and I enjoyed his company many times. Pat was extremely smart. He had a brilliant mind and he would amaze me at how fast he could solve puzzles and mind bender questions with such ease. We just heard today (June 19, 2013) that he passed. I am so sorry for his children and grandchildren that he is no longer here. He loved them with all his heart. Pat was a great guy and will be remembered fondly for his cheerful attitude and quick wit. God bless him and his family. 



I met Pat and Mary Eakin and their three gorgeous girls through my husband Jim Litherland in 1983.  We so loved and adored this family.  They openly invited us into their home and hearts.  Pat was very bright and could easily converse on many topics.  Pat--look for Jim in heaven and maybe you two can play chess again.  Love and condonlences to all of the family.



That time I visited the house where the bathtub drain was being ripped out, and a half-stripped V-8 engine was in the yard awaiting re-assembly.  Everyone thought it was a normal occurrence.  And it was.  It sure caused me to jettison the last remnants of formality in my life, and all for the better.  I'll miss this Austin original.  Best wishes to Pat's family. 



Daddy Poo, you were the best dad, ever.  My sisters and I had such a wonderful time with you.  We cherish every moment we had with you.  Love, always.
