Patricia "Patty" Ann Ekstrom

She graduated from King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas and attended college at Angelo State University. In her earlier years, Patty lived in Houston where she worked as a bank teller and met Steve Ekstrom. The two married and moved to Austin where they welcomed their daughter Jessica. She and Steve divorced amicably, and Patty went on to raise Jessica with the help of her mother Catherine Warner.

Patty worked hard as a single mother to create a wonderful life for her daughter Jessica. She worked for the US Postal Service for over 15 years and then went on to work for IBC Bank for many years. Patty retired from IBC Bank in July of 2020.

Patty had a natural ability to make friends wherever she went. She had a genuine love for anyone she met and enjoyed listening about their lives and their families. She was often described as a second mother figure by those who knew her. She had a big heart and loved to show others how much she cared.

Patty enjoyed art in every aspect of the word. She was talented in arts-n-crafts and drawing. She loved live music and going to watch her musician friends play all around Austin. Patty also loved theater, comedy, movies, and television. Patty volunteered at Paramount Theater in Austin as an usher, where she got to watch many exciting shows.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Floyd Warner and half-brother Bob Warner. Patricia is survived by her daughter Jessica Ekstrom and son-in-law Jon Dumaran Jr., and sister Cathy Hoover.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff (Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Aids) at Querencia at Barton Creek for their compassionate, exceptional care of Patty over the past years.

Family and friends are invited to attend Patty’s Memorial Services located at Cook-Walden/ Forest Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday February 17, 2024. Visitation with the family will start at 12:00 pm and the memorial service will start at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.
