

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Paul Dean Litteral Sr., who was called to Heaven on January 23, 2025 at the age of 89. He was a devoted husband, father, and papaw, whose unwavering love for his family and commitment to his community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Paul was born June 16, 1935, in Whitesville, Kentucky, to the late Virgil Litteral & Alkie Kelley. He was one of 13 siblings and the only one to earn a high school diploma, in which this was a testament of his determination and dedication that would later define his life.
Paul proudly served his country as an Army Platoon Sergeant for three years, demonstrating leadership and courage. Following his military service, he dedicated over 60 years to the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA), where he was a respected member and advocate for hardworking men and women.
A man of integrity and brotherhood, Paul was also a devoted Freemason. He earned the distinguished title of Master Mason and remained a loyal member of the fraternity for over 50 years, exemplifying their values of service, charity, and community.
In his spare time he was an avid reader with a deep love for Western novels. But his greatest gift was his own storytelling. As a natural historian, Paul brought his life experiences to vivid detail, captivating everyone with tales that spanned generations.
Paul was a man of great faith, known for his kindness and wisdom. He cherished the time spent with his family, always offering guidance, love, and a steady hand to lean on. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his commitment to his community, and his lifetime of service. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Ernest Kelley, his loving wife of 58 years, Jane Litteral, siblings Winnie Litteral, Theda Riley, Avonell Hubert, Betty Joe Long, Kitty Bell Howard, Lucky Litteral, Billy Jean Litteral, Phyllis Lyons, Bobby Litteral, James Carrol Litteral and Gloria Ann Turner.
He leaves behind his children; Paul Steven Litteral, Shari (Rod) Denman, Vicki (Tom) Daley, Paul Dean (Christine) Litteral Jr. and Mark Litteral. His cherished grandchildren; Melanie (Christopher) Pafford, Chad Daley, Jennifer (Logan K.) Flores, Jeff Daley, Eric (Kenzie) Denman, Paul Litteral III, Miles Litteral, Emily Litteral, Clayton Litteral, and Bradley Litteral, his greatgrandchildren; Lillian, Kendra, Logan, Jacob, Eli, Ziva, Luke, Dallas, Morgan, Alyvia, Waylon & Noah, as well as his brother, Rannie Kelley, sister-in-law, Audrey Litteral and many nieces, nephews & friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
