Pete M. Velasquez

Pete M. Velasquez left this earth peacefully on Tuesday, August 21st at the age of 81. He was born on October 23, 1925 in McNeil, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gil and Porfiria Velasquez; brothers, Roy Velasquez Sr., Julius Velasquez and James Velasquez. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Antonia Teran Velasquez: children, Anita O’Hora (Jon), Dolores Flores (Sabas), Kathy Casarez (Efrem), Stella Lewis (Chris), Peter Velasquez (Belinda), and Linda Velasquez; eleven grandchildren; one great- grandchild; brother, Matias Velasquez. Mr. Velasquez was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a bookkeeper for 30 years at Texas Concrete Products/Featherlite Precast. He was members of Cristo Rey Catholic Church for 55 years and a member of the Joy Group for 15 years. He was a bookkeeper for the Roy’s Taxi Company for more than 25 years. We would like to give special thanks to the ICU, IMCU and 5th floor staff at St. David’s Hospital for their wonderful care. Also special thanks to Dr. Burugu, Dr. Cho and Dr. Anna Vu and the staff at Christopher House. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Wilke Clay Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2007 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church at 2201 E. 2nd Street, with Reverend Jayme Mathias and Reverend Harold Essling, CSC officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to “La Escuelita” c/o Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2210 E. 2nd Street, Austin, Texas 78702.
