Preston’s family moved a great deal during childhood. He graduated from high school in New Jersey, and then went on to attend and graduate from LSU in Baton Rouge. He worked as an iron worker and a golf caddy. After graduation, he moved to Denver and helped landscape the downtown mall there, and later moved to New Orleans where he lived for many years, while there he worked as a draftsman, a salesman for a coffee company, and finally as an EMT, eventually becoming a flight EMT.
He moved to Marble Falls, Texas in 2006 and quickly adopted it as home. It here where he met his wife, Pam in 2012, and they were married in 2015. Preston had many friends wherever he went. He was a huge sports fan, his favorite teams being the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He also played golf and ran in the Crescent City Classic for 20 years. He loved music and New Orleans food.
He is survived by his wife Pam Hickman; and stepsons, Vince Burrough, Trey Dancer, and Dylan Dancer; mother Helen Hickman of Marble Falls; sister Mary Starrak and husband Jim of Pleasanton, Texas; nieces, Bonnie Starrak and partner Kyle, and Jayme Starrak, both in Austin, to whom he was Uncle P; great nephew KJ Kovach; many adored aunts and uncles and cousins, as well as cherished friends.
