Rachel lived in the moment. She was not capable of resentment, greed, envy, deception or manipulation and never worried about the future. She often cried watching sappy movies and loved seeing babies. Her recall of movies and knowledge of the lives of movie stars made her an authority on the subject to her family. Her wonderful innocence touched the heart of everyone who knew her.
The love of her life was Allen Drescher. They met in Special Ed at Austin High School and talked on the phone at least once a day for 25 years. Rachel went to the monthly MHMR dance in Smithville where Allen lives with his parents, Lee and Mona Drescher. They often brought Allen to Austin to see Rachel so they could spend a few hours together laughing, eating and watching movies. He always brought her flowers!
Rachel is survived by her mother, Sheila Milner of Austin; her sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Brian Slaga of San Antonio. She loved her nephews, Andrew and Brendan and niece, Josey. She had an aunt, Charlotte (Doug) Dobson, and uncle, Ron (Sylvia) Toole, all of Conroe and many cousins. Rachel is predeceased by her grandparents, Ava and J.O. Toole, her uncle, Keith Toole and her aunt, Linda Toole.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, the Celiac Disease Foundation or a charity of your choice.
