Heaven gained another fishing buddy on February 26, 2012. Ralph Webster was born on May 15, 1945, in Blytheville, AR, and lived in Memphis 56 years before relocating to Austin, Texas, in 2006. Ralph was a steadfast and dependable man who was quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He took great pride in his work and would always insist on getting the job done and done right. Ralph enjoyed living in the great outdoors, and he spent much of his time pursuing the “big catch,” which he loved to cook and serve to family and friends. Ralph also enjoyed travelling to tropical locations with his devoted wife of 20 years, Pattie. Together, they cruised the oceans and fished in many beautiful locations in the Caribbean, Mexico and the southern United States.
Ralph was a business owner for many years, operating an automotive repair business in Memphis before moving into construction management. He worked in residential construction for 15 years in the Memphis area. For the past five years Ralph immensely enjoyed his work in the Facilities Department at Marbridge, a residential community for adults with intellectual disabilities in Southwest Austin. He was well liked by both employees and residents. In 2008, he received the Premier Employee award for his positive attitude, dependability, excellent work ethic and concern for the residents’ safety and well-being. Affectionately known as “Tennessee” by many co-workers, Ralph’s passing leaves a space that many feel will be hard to fill.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Charles C. Webster. He leaves behind his wife, Pattie Cabrera Webster, his mother, Ernestine N. Webster; his daughter, Ashley N. Lax, her husband, Josh, two grandchildren, Lathan and Shelby; Brother Claley Webster and his wife, Rita; brother-in-law Richard A. Cabrera and his wife Catherine; nephew Matthew Cabrera; and mother-in-law Elouise Cabrera, as well as numerous extended family members.
The family expresses its deep appreciation for the outpouring of love and concern by many friends as well as co-workers at Marbridge during Ralph’s brief illness. We are deeply touched by the memorial the Marbridge employees created on his campus service vehicle. The family is also grateful to the compassionate care provided by the staff of Seton ICU.
Those wishing to leave memorial condolences may do so at www.cookwaldenforestoaks.com In lieu of flowers, Ralph
would be honored to know that the family has established the Ralph Webster Memorial Resident Activity Fund in his honor. Donations to the fund will assist residents who lack the resources to enjoy the many recreational and leisure opportunities provided by Marbridge.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 3, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX 78749.
