

Raymond Paul Teruo Harano, 70, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on April 7, 2026. Paul was a loving father, husband, and friend and described himself as a “radical monotheist” in his faith. He enjoyed practicing portrait photography whenever he had the opportunity.
The youngest of nine, Paul was born on June 12, 1955, to the late Satoru “George” and the late Chieko “Impie” Harano. He was a graduate of North Platte High School and the University of Nebraska. Paul, a Chemical Engineer, retired from “making molecules” at Haltermann Carless as a Plant Manager in 2017.
Paul was an active member of Webster Presbyterian Church in Houston serving on numerous committees and participating in various groups for 30 years before moving to be closer to his daughter. He was also well liked and quickly fit in with the congregation of First Presbyterian Church in Austin during his final years of life. In his retirement, Paul worked on polishing his hobbies and skills by joining community camera clubs and hiring models for portrait practice.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife Kim, siblings Robert (Bob) Harano, Helen Christ, Roger (Bucky) Harano, and Ronald (Bud) Harano. Paul is survived by his daughter Sarah and son-in-law Jimmy Cross. He is also survived by siblings Betty Ann Akiyama, Kay Kanayama, Gail Cunningham, and Randy Harano. He will be missed by all including his numerous siblings-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
