

Born November 16, 1941 to Myrtle and Raymond J. Quebe of Galveston, Texas, Ray was a fourth-generation Galvestonian and proud to be "Born on the Island."
Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, attending training in Biloxi, MS. He was a member of the 738th Radar Squadron of Olathe, KS receiving numerous awards and citations. After receiving honorable discharge from the service, he moved his family to Austin, which he would call home for the remainder of his life. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Ray spent many years in the electronics and technology field, working for Unitec Corporation, Radian Corporation and Dallas Digital before starting his own consulting service company with his son in 1995.
An avid runner, Ray participated in numerous Capital 10,000 races in Austin, enjoyed snow skiing, golf and baseball. He also had a passion for aviation, and could often be found at the local airport or traveling to airshows around the country.
Ray was a 3-year survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. He exemplified courage and proudly displayed the John Wayne quote "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway."
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Karen Gustafson Quebe; parents, Myrtle and Raymond J. Quebe, Sr.; sisters, Doris Jean Quebe and Linda Lee Quebe; brother, Richard John Quebe; and aunts, Doris Petitfils and Georgette Kassler.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Quebe of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Julia, son-in-law, Scott and granddaughters Siena and Justine Peterson of Austin, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Debbie Gustafson of Richmond, Texas; sister-in-law, Karen Quebe of San Antonio, Texas; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends too numerous to mention.
The family would like to thank Jean Feller, Dr. Jerry Fain, Dr. Paul Nader, Dr. Declan Fleming, Dr. Tim Dziuk, the Doctors and Nurses of St David's Austin, Texas Health Harris Methodist Alliance Fort Worth, Austin Radiological Associates and the staff of Community Hospice of Fort Worth for their care and expertise.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 11 AM at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
Friends and family will gather after the service at one of Ray's favorite Austin restaurants, Threadgill's at 6416 North Lamar, to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Raymond's name to support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
