

In loving memory of Richard "Bear" N. Peters, 87, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at his home in Cedar Creek, Texas. Richard served in the US Army and Air Force during the Korean War in 1950. He was a member of the American Legion, a Ben Hur Shiner Director's Staff member in 2001, along with being a member of 40/8, and a Disabled American Veteran.
Richard worked for McKinney Drilling for 37 years, finally coming to Austin, Texas in 1979 to help build the iconic Austin 360 Bridge. Prior to that he traveled internationally building foundations around the world.
He had three children by the age of 21; his daughter Patricia (deceased) and her spouse Wayne Hightower, surviving daughter Christine and spouse Tony Crane, and son Russel John Peters and his companion Linda Lightfoot. He was married to his loving wife Mildred Stohr-Peters in 1992; with surviving step children Jeffrey and spouse Bobbie Stohr, Larry Stohr, and Ken and spouse Cindy Stohr; as well as multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the American Legion Post 83, located at 4401 E St Elmo Rd, Austin, TX 78744, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. His ashes will be placed to rest later this year in Watson, Illinois.
