Richard Norman Schotz

Richard Norman Schotz (Dick) passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the age of 90. Dick was a very congenial and loving gentleman. He enjoyed many friends and relatives, whom he cherished over his long and happy life. He married his dear wife, Nell Butler and had a very close and loving marriage for fifty five years before Nell passed away in 2012.

Dick was a decorated and highly respected US Navy Veteran. He served in active duty during the Korean Conflict. He was proud to have followed in his Brothers, Henry and Albert and his Sister Helen’s footsteps serving in the US Military.

Dick had a long career with the Texas Highway Department Bridge Division and retired after more than 32 years of service to The State of Texas. He made many good and lifelong friends at what is now the Texas Transportation Commission. Upon retirement, Dick and Nell opened a uniquely Austin business they called “The Party Pig” catering to patrons gift requests.

Dick was preceded in death by his Father Henry, Mother Cora, Brothers Harry and Albert and Sister Anna Schotz. Dick is survived by his Sister retired Col. Helen C. Schotz, Brother, Charles R. Schotz,

Niece, Stephanie Schotz and Nephew Mark Schotz.
