Bob McMullan, 79, was born June 7, 1930, in Snyder, Texas, to Connie and Gladys Wilson McMullan, and passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family with whom he shared his life.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Sue, his daughter Glenda Harlow and her husband Wayne, his daughter Laura Eastman and her husband Scott, and grandchildren Kelsie and Keaton Harlow, Adeline Eastman, and an expected granddaughter Eastman. First and foremost a family man, Bob found great joy in raising his children and watching his grandchildren grow. He was a treasured husband, supportive father, and generous grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Bob retired in 1993 from The Department of Human Services after 21 years working for the State of Texas. He was an active Board Member of the Greater Texas Federal Credit Union for 13 years, and volunteered in the Retired State Employees Association for a number of years. Bob served our nation in the United States Army from 1951 – 1953 in occupied Germany, and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1956. A humble man, Bob’s spirit of service and dedication to family was an example to those fortunate to know and love him. The McMullan family would like to extend their thanks to the CCU nursing staff at the Heart Hospital of Austin for their wonderful care and support. Should you desire to do so, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in the St. John’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Thomas officiating.
