Robert Dale Cox

He was born on January 18, 1954, the beloved son of George Howard Cox and Mary Elizabeth Cox (Chandler). Robert was a true jack of all trades — a hardworking man who would do anything to provide for his family and help those he loved. There was nothing he wouldn’t try or take on if it meant supporting the people who mattered most to him.

His greatest pride and joy was his family. He married the love of his life, Penny Elaine Rhymes, on June 17, 1990. Together they built a beautiful, blended family filled with love, laughter, and strength.

Robert was the proud father of ten children:

Robert Dale Cox Jr., Wendy (Adrian) Adkins-Cox, Matthew (Amanda) Cox, Robert Wayne (Desiree) Cox, Mindy (Eddie) Hosick, George Cox, Elizabeth (Fred) Rhymes, Ricky (Chalia) Pippin, Bobby Pippin.

He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren who brought endless joy and light to his life: Anndrea Adkins, Adrian (Aj) Adkins, Chadsidee Jones, Chadrick Jones (Bigboy), Alysia Cox, Danielle Cox, Matthew Wayne Cox Jr (Little Matt), Robert Wayne Cox Jr (Boogie Bear), Conner Hosick, Haylea Hosick, Lyla Hosick, Ezra Sexton, Dustin, Jonathan and Nick. He also had 8 Great Grandkids he adored.

Robert was born 12th of 14 siblings. He is survived by 5 of them: Irvin Nathan (Jack) Cox, JL Cox, Ruthy Daniels, Kitty Shannon, and Cheryl Ann Barnard. Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Howard Cox and Mary Elizabeth Cox; his sons, Robert Dale Cox Jr. and George Cox; his granddaughter, Destiny Masha Adkins; his brothers, Howard Lee Cox, Johnny Mack Cox, Millis Eugene Cox, Harvey Cox, and Wayne Cox; and his sisters, Katy Louise Gravis, Daisy Mae Riley, and Violet “Bit” Catron.

Robert will be remembered for his loyalty, his grit, his sense of humor, and most of all, his deep and unconditional love for his family. He worked hard, loved deeply, and lived with fierce devotion to those he held dear.

Services will be held at Weed Corley Fish South Funeral Home - 2620 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Funeral: Sunday 7/20/25 at 11:30am at Weed Corley Fish South – Graveside services to follow at 1:00pm at Live Oak Cemetery, 10739-10799 Twin Creek Rd, Manchaca, TX 78652

He will be missed beyond words, but his spirit lives on in all who knew and loved him.
