Robert Michael Markus, Sr. was born in Yonkers, NY May 11, 1933 and died Sunday, September 16, 2007 after a brief illness. He served on submarines in the US Navy during the Korean War, namely the USS Sablefish. He attended the University of Texas then was employed by the Texas State Health Department until he retired after 30 years. He was affectionately known as "Zedo" by his grandchildren who always could count on him for Saturday morning deliveries of donuts, gadgets, and candy. He loved guns and was a fixture at McBride's and GT's. He placed others' needs before his and was a good man who will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Jeannette Lara Markus, children Dr George Markus of Dallas and his wife Christine, Michelle Markus of Austin, Dr Robert Markus, Jr of Austin and wife Jennyne, and Nicole Markus of Houston; and grandchildren Alexis, Reid, Conner, Jeannette, Jordan, Emily, Julia, Robert lll, and Ryan.
