

Bob Thompson 1939-2005 Robert Dale Thompson passed away on January 19, 2005 after a long, courageous, challenge with cancer. At the end he was surrounded by those he loved and by those who loved him. Born in Peoria, Illinois on the 7th day of March, 1939, he was born at 7:07 AM and was the 7th child born that day. He was born in room 7 on the 7th floor and weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces. He spent his young life growing up on a farm in Illinois and attended a one room schoolhouse before moving back to Peoria. At the age of 18 he joined the Navy so that he could see the world like his father and brother, but saw San Diego for four years. After the Navy he began working for Lockheed LMSC. While at Lockheed he met his beloved Sandi. Bob married Sandra Jean Duncan who was his loving companion for the rest of his life. There never were two people more clearly meant for each other and Bob doted on her all his life. Bob was also a loving father to three children, Scott, Christopher and Joy. Bob and his family moved to Austin in 1982. Since 1983 he was an active member of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and volunteered his time working with children. He worked for Lockheed until moving to Dell Corporation in 1995, performing many functions within the I/T organization. Bob is survived by his wife Sandi, children Scott (Ana), Christopher, and Joy (Charlie), as well as his brother Dick, sisters Eleanor and Sharon, grandchildren David and Sara, mother in law, Sara Ruth and many, many other friends and loved ones whose lives he touched in his own special way. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and friend to all he met. Bob has requested cremation and for his ashes to be spread at Lake Lure, North Carolina where he spent so many happy vacations with his family. A Memorial service will be held at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 3:00 PM.
