

Jean was born August 16, 1926. She spent her childhood in Sharon, Pennsylvania. She attended Cincinnati Conservatory School of Music. Jean married the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, John Francis “Jack” Leonard in 1948. The Leonards moved to Corpus Christi, Texas; where Jack worked as a petroleum engineer at Atlantic Richfield. Jack and Jean were proud to have 10 children, 26 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 on the way. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack; her parents, Carl Sr. and May Meyer; brother, Carl Jr.; sister, Shirley; beloved sons, James and Joseph Leonard; grandsons, Jason Mayorga and Bryan Leonard; and great granddaughter, Isabella Siwek.
Jean loved the piano and played the organ for many years at Corpus Christi Cathedral and St. Pious Church in Corpus Christi. She loved watching musical movies, with one of her favorites being "The Sound of Music." She was an extraordinary musician who passed on the love of music to her entire family. She was rowing and swimming competitively at 70 years of age and broke national records in the Senior Olympics. Jean loved the beach and shared many happy times there with her loving family.
Jean is survived by her children, Karen (Manfred) Burkman, Joan (Dr. Nap) Mayorga, Mary Morrison, Ann Bielert (Rhonda McWilliams), Patricia (Mark) Drackert, Debbie (Richard) O’Donnell, Danny (Linda) Leonard, and John (Laura Thompson) Leonard.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 8:00 A.M until 12:00 P.M. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, and again briefly after the Rosary. Rosary will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 1:00 P.M., with Funeral Mass to follow at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M. Sharing of memories and stories will be held in the church following the Funeral Mass. There will be a Graveside Service held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, please gather in Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home beginning at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, to go in procession to the graveside. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the home of John Leonard and Laura Thompson in Houston, Texas.
