On March 10, 2025, the Lord called one of his fiercest soldiers to serve in his heavenly army. Roosevelt Monroe Stinson Jr. was born on July 31, 1964, at Randolph Memorial Hospital in Asheboro, NC, to Roosevelt Monroe Stinson and Mary Elizabeth Stinson. From this union, two children were born, Robin and Monroe.
Monroe's life was marked by a strong sense of service. He attended Asheboro City Schools, where he not only excelled academically but also drove buses during high school. After graduation, he followed a path of service by enlisting in the United States Army. Monroe proudly served 13 years of active duty as a Military Police officer and went on to complete an additional 7 years in the Navy Reserves, solidifying his dedication to his country.
After leaving the military, Monroe’s passion for protecting and serving continued, as he pursued a fulfilling career in law enforcement on the civilian side. His devotion to his work was unwavering, and he made a lasting impact on the communities he served. When Monroe wasn’t on duty, he enjoyed fishing, playing bass guitar in numerous cover bands, and traveling.
Monroe’s heart was forever intertwined with that of his soul mate, Maura. Their love story began in Killeen, TX, at a pizza parlor where Maura worked. From that moment, they were inseparable. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, and from their union, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Sasha and Jordan.
As a father, Monroe was deeply dedicated to guiding his children, supporting them in all their endeavors, and inspiring them to reach their fullest potential. His love and influence will live on in them forever. His absence leaves a void that no one can fill, but his legacy endures in the hearts of all who knew him.
Monroe was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his devoted wife, Maura, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Though they are now reunited in Heaven, their love will continue to shine brightly in the lives they touched.
Monroe leaves behind to cherish his memory: his daughter, Sasha Stinson (Paul); his son, Jordan Stinson (Monique); his brother, James Lindsay; his sisters, Robin Ruffin (Lemuel) and Deborah Holmes-Cook (Jerry); his grandchildren, Ace, Santana, and Pierce; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many cherished friends.
We will miss you deeply, Monroe. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that you are now at peace and reunited with your beautiful Maura. We are incredibly blessed and proud to have known you, and we carry your spirit with us always. Rest peacefully, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. We know that Heaven is a brighter place with you there, and we will see you again. Until then, we smile knowing that you and Maura are together once more.
A funeral service for Roosevelt will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 Ranch Rd 620 N, Austin, TX 78750. Following the funeral service will be a reception at 12:30 PM at Lakeline Oaks Building, 1000 Old Ml Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613.
