Rosemarie (Rosemary) Dolores Manjeot, 94, of West Lake Hills, Texas passed on August 16, 2024. Rosemary was born in Grasmere, New York to the late Santolo DeGennaro and Maria Elena Meli on November 6, 1929.
Rosemary met the Love of her Life, retired Colonel Lloyd Howton Manjeot, on a Blind Date in NYC. A combination of a young Military Officer from Hereford, Texas who married a New Yorker of Italian heritage, they created a partnership that worked beautifully for a lifetime together. They were married for 45 years before Lloyd’s death in 1999. A true Military Officer’s Wife, Rosemary hosted frequent Parties in their home, held positions in the Officers Wives Clubs throughout the years and together, they sponsored four young Cadets while they were stationed at West Point Military Academy in the early 60’s.
Being a devoted wife and loving Mother, moving was never a hardship and the Family often moved every year or two … It was always a fun adventure to see/tour new places, meet new people and make new friends. Rosemary loved living in Germany (explored many nearby European cities and other countries), Okinawa (where she learned to cook Asian food, cake decorating and floral arranging) and Arlington, Virginia right outside Washington, D.C. (which the Family explored as often as possible). The Family was stationed in Fort Lee, Virginia, Quartermaster Headquarters, several times and lived in Hampton, Virginia when Lloyd was stationed in Vietnam, the second time. There, the Family was embraced and supported by other Military Families whose husbands/Dads were also serving in Vietnam.
Rosemary was honored when Lloyd was buried with Military Honors in “Quartermaster Hill” (located down the hill from the JFK Memorial) in Arlington National Cemetery. Rosemary spent several hours that special afternoon looking at all the Headstones and sharing funny stories about how she knew many of Dad’s friends/fellow officers who were stationed together stateside or overseas.
Rosemary loved her Family, sight-seeing, meeting new people, cooking, decorating for and celebrating holidays and, going to Texas A&M University Football Games where Lloyd had graduated. They often ran into Lloyd’s classmates who had kids, like their daughter, attending College there. Those four fun-filled years of College Station Football Weekends were like Class of 1951 mini-Class Reunions.
Preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Howton Manjeot, Jr., Rosemary is survived by her daughter; Beverly Gale Manjeot Williams and her husband Bradley Burns Williams; grandchildren Chad Manjeot Williams and his wife Liz Wasem Williams and Delaney Ryann Williams and; her daughter-in-law Melisa Torres Manjeot.
Rosemary will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with her husband Retired Colonel Lloyd H. Manjeot. A local service and a committal date to be determined.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to Donate Life America at donatelife.net. Lloyd, Senior, was a recipient of both a Heart and Kidney from two different donors. The Family would like to encourage you to donate and register as an Organ Donor.
