

Ruby Johnson Christianson Ruby Agnes Johnson Christianson, 87, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to be with her Lord Jesus on July 27, 2005. Ruby was born in Keene, Nebraska on June 18, 1918 to Rev. Ernest and Agnes Johnson. She attended Ash Grove School outside Holdrege, Nebraska and completed her primary school education in Melvin, Texas. Later her family moved to Elgin, Texas where Ruby graduated from Elgin High School in 1935. Following her graduation, she attended Nixon-Clay Business College in Austin. She worked a number of years as a secretary for Texas Guaranty Finance Company and the Texas Posten newspaper. When Rubys children were born, she stayed at home for several years. She went back to work and retired from the Veterans Administration in 1982. Ruby was active and loved her church, the First Evangelical Free Church. She and her husband served as youth sponsors for the Free Church Youth Fellowship. Some of her best times were hosting Singspirations for the young people of the church. She was a Sunday School teacher, an officer in the Womans Missionary Society, and Vacation Bible School teacher. Ruby was a faithful prayer warrior for family and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Dagmar Lind, LaVerne Aronson, Eldora Sundbeck and June Sundbeck; and one brother, Milton Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Quinton; three sons, Larry Christianson and James Christianson of Austin, Darrell Christianson and wife Pam of Liberty Hill, and daughter, Anita DeShields and husband Russell of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also surviving her are four grandchildren, Ryan Christianson and wife Teri of Bayfield Colorado, Brittany Liles and husband Wade of Leander, Texas, Chris DeShields and wife Pam of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kevin DeShields and wife Sarah of Charlotte, North Carolina, five great grandchildren; and one brother, Rev. Bryan Johnson and his wife Lois of Moline, Illinois. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and hosts of friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 29th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar, Austin, Texas. Dr. Rob Harrell, Senior Pastor of the First Evangelical Free Church, will officiate. Internment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. Memorials may be made in her name to the First Evangelical Free Church Memorial Fund, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd. Austin, Texas 78749, the Evangelical Free Church Cemeteries Association, 1520 Windsor, Austin, Texas 78703 or to a charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Ryan Christianson, Chris DeShields, Kevin DeShields, Dwight Lind, Wayne Lind, Dennis Sundbeck, Carlton Sundbeck, and Wade Liles.
