Ruby was born to Chester G. Ramsey and Mary Napier Ramsey at Woodbury, Platte Co., Nebraska on November 11, 1921. She weighed three and a half pounds and her doctor said that she wouldn’t survive. However, the doctor that delivered her died the next day in a hunting accident but Ruby lived on.
She worked at different jobs, including nurses’ aide, assembling airplane meters during World War II, and caregiver, before she met the love of her life, Paul A. Thomas. They were married February 19, 1954 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Ruby, a devout Christian, was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans ladies’ auxiliary. Her husband, Paul, said that she made the best pumpkin pies, fried chicken, and potato salad in the world.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Paula R. Thomas, and her grandchildren, John Thomas and Stanley Thomas, who reside in Austin, Texas.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Brimberry for the good care he gave her as his patient.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
