

Ruth Esther Farmer of Austin, Texas, went home to be with her Heavenly Father and joined her beloved husband, Vernon, on March 7, 2014. She was born in Castell, Texas on October 12, 1923, one of seven children, to Arthur and Agnes Leifeste.
Ruth worked in the Austin School District and retired from American Bank in 1980. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was married for 69 years to the love of her life, Vernon Farmer, and she is survived by her children: Vernon and Lana Farmer of Temple, Drake and Teri Farmer of Austin, Deborah and John Bretz of San Antonio, and, Sharon and Gary Morrison of Round Rock; grandchildren: Tiffini and Chris Porter of Waco, Dustin and Shilpa Famer of Houston, Shelby and Shoney Katz of Old Greenwich, CT, Brent and Kelly Morrison of Cedar Park, Christopher and Monika Farmer of Austin, and Bryce Morrison of Austin; great-grandchildren: Taylor Fettig and Cayla Porter of Waco, Rana and Ava Farmer of Houston, and Joshua and Jonathan Katz of Old Greenwich, CT. Ruth is also survived her brother, A. C. Leifeste and her sister, Arlene Moore. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons and two nephews, Charles Birk and Todd Eathorne.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar. Graveside Services will follow at Fairland Cemetery, Fairland, Texas.
