Ruth Stiba Geist passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Ruth was born the second of six children on September 3, 1923, in Rice’s Crossing, Texas near Taylor. As the oldest daughter, she helped care for the younger children. She graduated from Coupland High School and Nixon Clay Business School. She worked for several banks including Austin National and Texas State then retired from the City of Austin Tax Appraisal office after several years of service.
She was given the nickname “Toots” by her brother John, a name that would stick for the rest of her life. She enjoyed dancing throughout her life and still took a twirl on the dance floor with her long-time friends up until the final weeks of her life. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and her family loved her!
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Geist; her brothers John Stiba and Ernest Stiba, Sr.; and a sister Thelma Boudny.
Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory her sisters Lydia Kaspar and Inez Schrader and husband Don; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews Ernest Stiba, Jr., Alfred Boudny, Jr., Alan Boudny, Alton Boudney, Steve Schrader, Mike Schrader, Wayne Schrader and Michael Schrader II.
Honorary Pallbearers are nieces Kathy Waters, Janice Weber, Carol Bullion, Debbie Lange, Sharon Talasek, Vicky Porterfield, and Jeanie Postell.
For the last eight years, she has resided independently at Englewood Estates with much love and assistance from her sister Inez Schrader. Special thanks to the staff of Englewood and especially Teresa with Elder Assist.
We will miss you Aunt Toots!
