Ruth Naomi Krause Wright was born on November 11, 1929, in Pharr TX, the fourth child of eleven to Herman Theodore & Clara Marie Blasig Krause. On April 28, 2026, at the age of 96, Ruth departed this earthly life to be in heaven with her loving Savior. Ruth was baptized in November 1929 at St Paul Lutheran Church, McAllen TX and on April 18, 1943, she was confirmed by Rev John G Elser also at St Paul Lutheran Church, McAllen TX.
Ruth grew up on a working farm, with daily chores before & after school. Summers were reserved for picking cotton and they paid one cent for each bale she picked! Her father then bought savings bonds with the earnings. Ruth graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1946 at 16 years of age and moved to Austin to attend Durham’s Business College from 1946-1947. For three years she worked for The State Health Department. During this time, she met the love of her life, Edgar. They were married on March 17, 1950, and Ruth was a stay-at-home mom until 1976, when she resumed employment at The State Health Department until retirement. Vacationing, volunteering at church, fishing, cooking, gardening, and being with grandchildren & family were all favorites for her. The last three years she spent at Buckner Villas at the Meadows, making lots of new friends, renewing prior friendships, participating in activities, and all while proclaiming her love for Jesus. There are some very special people at Buckner that loved her just as much as she loved them.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Edgar Lee Wright; her son, Donald Ray Wright; her parents, Herman & Clara Krause; five brothers, Victor Paul Conrad Krause, John Carl Gerhardt Krause, Walter Theodore Krause, Edward Ernest Krause, and Harold Ralph Krause; and one sister, Florence Irene Krause Wright.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Hilgendorf and Kristi Wells (Barrett Poehl); grandchildren, Jameson Wells (Jennifer DeLong Wells), Elyssa Wells Bryant (Mikie Bryant), Tyler Poehl, David Hilgendorf, and Sarah Hilgendorf; great- granddaughter, Kali Bryant; sisters, Caroline Alice Krause Hamilton, Anna Magdalene (Mac) Krause Harris, Mary Jeannette Krause Graham (Dave), and Margaret Louise Krause Inlow (Homer); sisters-in-law, Gwen Krause, Evelyn Krause, and Patricia Krause; and many nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church 1500 W Anderson Ln. Austin, Tx at 10:30am on Monday, May 4, 2026 and can be streamed at: live.redeemer.net. Interment will be held at Lytton Springs Cemetery at 1:30pm.
