Sandy loved Austin's live music scene, camping and going to the beach, traveling around the world, gardening and working on her home. Sandy was a retired veteran of the US Navy and founder of the Kenny Murgia Scholarship award.
Many may remember her amazing journey with the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities, Team Everest 2003 Challenge.
When asked why she wants to be a part of TE-03, Sandra replied, “Because I can!” She is an avid hiker and is experienced in rappelling. Sandra has reflex sympathetic dystrophy with arthritis and walks with a cane and leg brace. She also has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and believes that completing the challenging trek to Mt. Everest base camp will enable her to conquer her internal blocks and fears.
"You do the coolest thing you've ever done in your life, and with the coolest people you've ever been with. I'm not ready for it to be over," said Sandra Murgia of Austin. "So I'm trying to start a new life – instead of just waiting for life to happen, to just go out and grab it." Team Everest The Movie.com
