

Sandy Lynn Tomes was born as the fourth child to Al and Mae Buzas on November 8, 1957, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was a beautiful loving wife and best friend, wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and overall best friend. She was loved by all who met her for the positive, cheerful, kind demeanor that came with a big smile that lit up a room. She had many friends and colleagues.
She acquired a Bachelor’s in Business from Eastern MI and a Master’s in Business from Central MI. She was also a licensed stock broker and financial sales representative at Ford. She worked at Ford Motor Company and Ford Credit all of her adult life in various departments and roles mainly in the Treasury Department in her final years there. She retired at the end of 2012, after for 36.5 years with Ford Motor Company and a career that she truly loved and enjoyed.
After retirement she then moved to Austin, Texas, with her husband Craig whom she has been with for over 20 years. She worked for various charities throughout her life. She also volunteered to help work with the children in the youth ministries at her churches, Northridge in Plymouth MI and Real Life Church Austin, in Austin, Texas.
Craig and Sandy loved each other very much and they had a very special relationship because they enjoyed so many of life’s special moments together. They shared their faith and their passion for life. They enjoyed many activities outdoors. They had many friends they shared life’s good times with over the years. They traveled to many places throughout North America, Europe and the Caribbean, snowboarding and experiencing various foods, cultures and historical sites. They both enjoyed music and spending precious time together enjoying each other’s companionship and the little things life has to offer.
She passed on in the early hours of December 28, 2016, to be with the Lord in Heaven after complications from a prolonged hospital stay as the result of an accident. She is preceded in death by her father Alexander and her brother Mike Buzas. She is survived by her husband Craig Tomes; her mother Maebelle Buzas; her brother Virgil Buzas; her sisters, Cindy Boyd and Wendy Vaneckoute; her in-laws Joseph and Betty Tomes, Kevin and Beth Gibbons, and Leann Beadle; many nieces Cammy, Casey, Blaize, Autumn, Kayla, Erin, and Shannon; nephews, Gage, Chase, Jack, and Grant; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank Craig’s sister Leann Beadle for her commitment and special friendship to Sandra over the last few years since she moved down here to Austin. Sandra Lynn was a very sweet and loving wife, sister and friend. She will truly be missed by so many for passing at such a young age. Heaven has truly gained another Angel to watch over us.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 5, 2017, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Nich Deniz officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
