Scott D. Evans

Scott D. Evans passed away at his home on May 12, 2006 at the age of 70. He was born February 15, 1936 to Mona and Marvin Evans. He attended Austin schools and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and the University of Texas. He began his hospital administrator’s career in San Angelo. He was hired as an assistant administrator for Medical Center Hospital in Tyler, Texas, serving in that position for 11 years. In 1974, he was employed by the Lifemark Corporation and charged with building a hospital in Nacogdoches, Texas. In 1978, he was named Regional Vice President of Lifemark and served in that capacity until 1982. He then moved to Round Rock, Texas and opened the Round Rock Community Hospital in 1983. The Round Rock Hospital was the third hospital he built during his administrative career. In 1981, he became a Fellow in the American College of Hospital Administrators. In 1985, he was named Chairman of the Texas Hospital Association for 1985-1986. In 1997, Scott was the hospital administrator for Del Rio General Hospital. Scott continued in the hospital administration field as a consultant until he retired a few years later. Sue Pace Evans, Scott’s wife of over 30 years, preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Katherine Pace of Austin, Texas; his step-son, Jerry Dean Correll, Jr. of Temple; and his step-grandson, Jeremy Truman Correll Smith of Rockwall. While in Round Rock, Scott was very active in the community, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church, Stephen’s Minister volunteer, and recently appointed member of the Williamson County Health District Board. He will be sorely missed by many friends and loved ones. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, 1004 N. Mays, Round Rock.
