

Shirley Raye Fasel, beloved wife, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and country dancer extraordinaire, left this life on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at the age of 71. She was born on Sept. 5, 1945, to Lieutenant Colonel Raymond McCullough and wife Dorothy in La Junta, Colorado.
Together with her sister Dee and brother Lee, the family traveled extensively with the U.S. Air Force all throughout her younger life. She then attended, and graduated from, Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas, in 1963.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy, father Raymond, step-father Charles Joe Adair, and grandson Clayton Arthur Jordan.
Shirley married the love of her life Jerry Fasel on Sept. 19, 1979. Together they have six amazing children, Troy Jordan, Craig Jordan, Wendy Coker (husband Eddie), Scott Jordan (wife Casey), Michelle Bertram (husband Trent) and Jason Joe Willie Fasel (wife Daneè); fourteen beautiful grandchildren, Christopher, Kelsey, Matthew, Allison, Kody, Kaelynn, Sara, Kiernan, Cassie, Rachel, Harley, Presley, Autumn, Brody and another granddaughter on the way; and four cherished great-grandchildren, Jasper, Arielle, TJ and McKenna.
Shirley loved to raise children, spoil grandchildren and great grandchildren, talk with family and friends, garden, decorate, sew and dance to country and western music. She especially loved the music of "The County Line Band" from New Braunfels, Texas.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Shirley's longtime friends Kathy Wortell and Connie Fox, and also to the Robert E. Lee High School graduating class of 1963. Shirley cherished the relationships with her friends and of her former classmates, especially the ones that attended the class reunions, these friendships meant very much to her.
The family also wishes to express a very deep gratitude to Dr. John Mangione who provided her with exceptional medical care and helped to extend the quality of her active life for many years.
“And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance".
Visitation will be at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at Western Hills Church of Christ, 6211 Parkwood Drive, on Friday Aug. 25, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. Graveside Service and Reception, will immediately follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
