Sonya and I worked in the same area and I recall that on her desk Sonya always had her Wedding picture along with baby pictures of her Luke and a few family Christmas cards that Sonya gave to co-workers with memorable family pictures.  I realized then, that she loved her family and deeply cared for them. She spoke of Luke playing baseball and being a pitcher for the team and how proud she was of him. Now, that I have children of my own, I also have baby pictures to remind me of how fast our children grow and how much I adore them.  Down deep inside, as a parent, our goal is for our family to be joyful and loved and I can relate with Sonya in that aspect.  Sonya was a good friend, co-worker and inspiration to me. I miss her and I pray that her family is doing well. I am sure that Sonya will always be with them in Spirit.

Sonya will always have a place in my heart.  I enjoyed working with her and sitting at the baseball games watching her son, Luke, and my grandson, Dillon, play ball.  At Christmas time she would always share a Christmas card with pictures of Luke to all her co-workers.  She was so proud of Luke and I remember she worried about him going to High School and learning to drive.  She wanted to make sure he was always happy and safe.  At work she was our party planner and organize everything and made things special for whoever's birthday it was or was retiring.  A great friend and Mom.  Love you always Sonya.

My kids and wife were impressed with Sonya's praying, when one Sunday evening she got on her knees very spontaneously with Luke to thank the Lord for locating a missing booklet used for scripture memory. Another time Sonya called a group of us to get together spontaneously at work to pray in a stairwell for a coworker who was battling cancer.   Sonya is the model of Jesus Christ and has inspired me to be my all for Jesus Christ.  Thanks be to God  for blessing our lives with His servant Sonya Bynes for His Glory and Kingdom.

I never actually met Sonya in person as we only had a business relationship.  I was moved to write this entry as I wanted her family to know that she impacted a complete stranger by her sweet and gentle nature.  Sonya was always so helpful and genuinely sweet... when she wasn't expected to be.  We will never know, this side of Heaven, the lives we impact, our purpose or even why God allows such tragedy to happen in our lives.  We just have to trust that HE can see the big picture and knows what's best for us.  May God bless your family with peace, comfort and fond memories.

I remember Sonya well when I taught her son Luke in second grade!  What a precious family!  I just learned of her death today and am so sorry.  Chris and Luke are in my prayers!

Sweet Sonya - So many memories have flooded my mind this week.  We shared great times, laughs, and even some tears over the years.  From working at the Peach Gazebo in our teens (including a runaway dolly), to performing an Andrews Sisters karaoke tune, building beehive hairdos for an "old time" celebration at church,  slumber parties watching "Gone with the Wind", our road trip to Jackson, Mississippi, and even searching for Sharon's contact on a gravel road, there are so many wonderful memories.  Your love, sweetness, courage and devotion were an inspiration to so many.  I feel extremely blessed to have known you and called you friend.  Rest in the arms of God, sweet Sonya, until we meet again.  My love, always and forever.

My sincerest sympathies are with you during this difficult time.  Sonya was a wonderful woman, full of strength and goodness.  She will be sorely missed.

Heaven rejoiced when Sonja was called home and then all on earth have felt such heart breaking sorrow . I don't have words to express the sorrow I feel . She was my hero , the kindest , beautiful, thoughtful, the truest Christian in every sense , a true lady . Most of all she was my church family and I will so miss her . She was always smiling from the inside out and shined in her day to day walk. We want you to know that even in her youth, your precious daughter left us with a sincere impression for her love of our Father in heaven.

I will always remember Sonya's sweet Southern accent. She made it seem completely normal for the word "bell" to be a two syllable word: "Bay-all" Even though I hadn't seen Sonya in years, I will still miss her.

Sonya, You will always have a special place in my heart.  So glad we got to work together and sit at the many baseball games watching Luke and Dillon play ball. Sometimes your mom would join us and we enjoyed the sunsets.  Your cheering voice for all the boys on the team will be missed.  But they will always be "your boys".  Chris, Luke, and Melba, you still have each other...continue the love and kindness that Sonya was so good at and support each other now and always.  Each tear we cry is a fond memory of Sonya.  So many tears and so many fond memories of a beautiful wife, mother, and friend. God Bless each of you during this sad and heartbreaking time!!

It's still hard to believe my dear friend, Sonya has gone to be with the Lord.  It seems to soon but He has a bigger plan for her.  Life will not be the same without her, but what a blessing it was to know her.  Sonya - you were an angel here on earth and I'm just thankful you are no longer in pain.  You fought this battle with all you had and I will carry your strength and love in my heart for eternity.  I love you, buddy!  Always.

I was so sad to hear this news.  We haven't seen Sonya in a long long time, but she was and never will be forgotten.  Sonya caught my bouquet at my wedding way back in 1989. Chris and I worked with her at IBMTEFCU back in the day.  Couldn't help but love her. Rest in peace with no more pain.

Chris and Luke how our hearts break for you.  Because we have called the Smiths' our family for so many years, your family, and especially Sonya, became part of our family too.  We have prayed for healing for Sonya, and God healed her last Friday.  I know at this time that doesn't help the hole she is leaving in your lives, but with the passing of time it's the memories of her smile and laugh, and love, you will fill that hole with.  The last time we saw Sonya she was singing and dancing and laughing at Whitney's graduation party.  That's the picture we will keep in our hearts of your dear wife and mother.  Our love to you that only a Christian sister and brother can extend; God's love.

Sonya, thank you for being my friend, for the prayers,  for lending me your ear, for the laughter and boy did we laugh. You are definitely one of God's most favorite,  most  beautiful and precious creation.  I'm so, so grateful he brought us together.   Love you my dear friend.

Sonya inspired kindness. She welcomed me into her Sunday school classroom as a co-teacher. Then as her battle began, she entrusted me to run her class while she was out. I know she was sad to leave the classroom, as she found value in teaching the children about Jesus, learning Bible verses and being a shining example for the kids. There are many children at PLC and those who passed through that were touched by her love for others.My prayers go up for comforting Luke and Chris during this time. My hope is that those who were touched by her love, pay it forward as a volunteer or in acts of kindness to others. 

Sue and I send our prayers and thoughts to all of the family. Although we had not seen her for many years we have such fond memories of our time with her in Austin when she was a young woman starting out in life. Her and her entire family were such a joy to be around and an inspiration to all.

Beautiful Sonya, a true Saint of GOD.  Strong and full of courage. Touched so many Graduates lives. Praying for Peace and Comfort from The HOLY GHOST,   will be upon all the family. 

My very first friend at church was Sonya. We played on the women's church softball team together. There were certainly more laughs than scores. Within the past few months I told her that she needed to get better, because with my new knee, we'd be able to play once again. So, now I'll have to wait until I see her again. I've had to add to my prayer, that the Lord must provide all of our needs. We're going to need a ball and bat. One thing I can take away from this experience is that Sonya taught us how to fight the fight. We will always cherish her and her family. So blessed to have known her. She was my friend

Dear Chris and Luke,
May the peace of God that passes all understanding be with you through this time of loss.  Just know you are not alone for you are surrounded by the prayers and support of many who know and love you.

During the darkest hours is when a candle is the brightest.  Sonya's flame of passion for life and for you, Chris and you, Luke were evident to all who knew her.  Take the many fond memories you have created with her and treasure them in your heart for they will bring you comfort in the days and years to come.

Sonya was, as others have described her, a rare jewel...she was a woman of integrity, selflessness and great strength.  She has touched the lives of all who crossed her path and I am blessed and honored to have known her as a dear friend.

You fought a long hard fight and won your wings sooner than later. It is time to rest high with the ones that fought before you and claim your seat in the heavens above. I know you were welcomed with open arms by Janelle, Dale, Chris and many more. Your smile and sweet voice will be missed until seen and heard again.
