

SOPHIE MATILDA GENDKE JAEGER Sophie Matilda Jaeger, 92, of Austin, passed away quietly Thursday evening, December 16, 2004. Sophie was born January 20, 1914 in Weesatche, TX to Herman and Louise Gendke. She married Rudolph Jaeger in November of 1934 in Cuero, TX and was blessed with three sons. Sophie and Rudolph moved their family to Austin in 1943. She spent her entire life caring for people; 35 years as a nurses aid at Sankey Nursing Home and another 5 as a day care attendant at Lil Darlings Day Care. When Sophie retired, she moved to Western Trails Apartments where she made friends and was an active participant in all their activities. The last three years of her life were spent at Monte Siesta Nursing Home where she continued to be as active as her health would allow. She was much loved by all who met her and will be greatly missed. Sophie was preceded in death by here parents; all sisters and brothers; one son Melvin; and one grandson, Kenneth. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Floyd and Lois Jaeger and Robert and Sheila Jaeger; four grandchildren, Rebecca Cannon, Tyson Jaeger, Cliff Jaeger, and Diane Ponpoe; and two great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all the staff of Monte Siesta Nursing Home for the love and care they gave to Sophie. Visitation will be from 3:00 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 20, 2004 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home with Reverend Lou Snead officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery on Circle S Road.
