Susan Elizabeth Gregg Fox, 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Family flew in from around the globe to be by her side as her health declined from Alzheimer’s disease.
Susan was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 25, 1951, to Robert Gregg and Virginia Gregg. She was raised primarily in Loveland, Ohio alongside her five older siblings.
Susan received her M.Ed. In Counseling and Student Personnel Administration at the University of North Texas and her B.S. in Education from the University of Cincinnati. She was a career-oriented leader, holding the position of Director of the Academic Advising Center at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL for nearly twenty years. She also founded Northwestern’s Pre-Health Advising program and was hosted numerous times by medical schools throughout the country and Caribbean.
Susan was also an active member of the Bahá’í community. As a teenager, she spent a summer in Central America helping with the development of the Bahá’í Faith in that region. Before serving at Northwestern, Susan spent thirteen years working as a regional consultant at the Bahá’í National Center in Evanston, IL and served for many years as chairperson of the Spiritual Assembly of Skokie.
She will be remembered for her energy, grit, playfulness, sense of humor, and spirit of adventure. She loved to dance, travel, and listen to live music. She could be fiercely competitive in a game of Rummy, Scrabble, or Boggle. Most of all, Susan will be remembered for her smile, contagious laugh, and ability to reach out and make new friends wherever she went.
Susan is survived by her children, Kristin, Steven, and Andrew Fox; their father, Rudi Fox, to whom she was married for over 30 years; and her grandchildren, James, Margo, and Jaclyn Hester, all born to Kristin Fox.
