Syble Ulater Leach departed this life on December 29, 2014 in Austin following a brief illness. Syble was 92 years old. She was born Syble Ulater Eubanks on January 8, 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas to Otto and Lula Eubanks and spent most of her life in the Fort Worth area, working and raising her children. She had moved to Austin in recent years to be in the company and care of family.
In 1940, she married Barbra Hanford Leach in Ola, Arkansas. They were married for nearly 55 years, until his passing in 1995. Syble worked for the Birdville Independent School District for 25 years where she managed food services until her retirement in 1981. During their leisure time, she and her husband greatly enjoyed traveling together and their journeys, particularly their camping trips, are treasured memories of the children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who often traveled with them.
A dedicated sports fan, Syble was particularly fond of the Texas Longhorns and attended Longhorn sporting events, especially football games, for nearly 40 years. Family recalls that she could most often be found clothed in her favorite team's color, the burnt orange of the University of Texas.
She was a longtime member of the Birdville Baptist Church where she actively participated and enjoyed studying with her Sunday school class, the Kingdom Seekers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barbra Hanford Leach. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Earle of Austin, Texas; and her son, Richard Allen Leach and his wife Karla Neeley Leach of Rock Springs, Wyoming. She is also survived by her grandson Cameron Loudon Leach and granddaughter McKenna Loudon Leach, both of Rock Springs; grandson Charles Jason Earle and his wife Normajean Clara Thompson of Austin; and granddaughter Elisabeth Ashlea Earle and her husband Jeffrey David Clark and great-granddaughters Alexandra Claire Leissner and Avery Elise Leissner of Austin.
She was laid to rest at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 2, at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
