

Sylvia Wilmot, 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at her home in Midlothian, Texas. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on April 13, 1935, the youngest of four children born to Louis G. and Ofelia L. Wilmot.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Louis A. Wilmot.
Sylvia was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy, Corpus Christi, Texas. She worked for the United States Probation Office in Corpus Christi for six years until her first child was born. She raised her children in Brownsville, Texas, where she was active in her Parish and in the activities of her children’s schools. In 1979 she went to work for the Diocese of Brownsville, where she was employed for 23 years in the Tribunal. After she retired in January, 2002, she moved to Midlothian, Texas, to live with her daughter, Patricia. In her later years she enjoyed working in her garden and spending as much time as possible with her beloved grandsons. Her children and her grandsons were her greatest treasures.
Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Rosalie G. Keszler and husband, David L. of Austin, and Patricia W. Garcia of Midlothian; her two sons, H.S. Buddy Garcia and wife, Meredith C. of Austin, and Anthony L. (Tony) Garcia of Dallas; and by her three grandsons, Shelby Cruse Rounsaville, Clark Anthony Garcia, and Reid Wilmot Garcia, all of Austin. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria W. Sanchez; her sister-in-law, Helen P. Wilmot, both of Corpus Christi; her cousin, Julieta J. Plata, of Brownsville, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2012 with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church located at 4311 Small Drive with Monsignor Bill Brooks, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Sylvia to your local Meals on Wheels.
