Teddy Griesenbeck Waldrip passed away peacefully on January 28, 2013, ending her many long years of fighting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Teddy was born on August 10, 1937 in Groesbeck, Texas, but lived the majority of her life in Austin. Her strong, colorful personality served her well in the variety of occupations she held over the years, including working for Texas Monthly Magazine, and a local radio station. Some may remember her as the funny radio personality many years ago that provided her audience with daily satirical updates of the soap opera "All My Children", via her "Pine Valley Poop" segments. Others may remember the impression of Ann Richards she did for the annual Gridiron Show.
Teddy is survived by her brother, Burgess Griesenbeck of Chicago, Illinois, her daughter, Sarah Hale Plowman of Round Rock, Texas, and her son David Hale of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by the greatest joys of her life: her grandchildren Katie Haag of Dallas, Texas, Zachary Plowman of Austin, Texas, Emily Gowan of Greenville, South Carolina, and her great grandchild Hazel Gowan, also of Greenville, South Carolina.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center of Round Rock and also to Hospice Austin for the love, care, and respect they provided Teddy at the end of her life. Teddy was a life-long lover of dogs, so in lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to a no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
