

Thomas R. Board, age 69, of Austin died suddenly on Monday, March 3, 2008. Tom graduated from Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville, Indiana, in 1956, and Saint Edwards University in Austin in 1960, where he majored in accounting. He practiced as a CPA in Austin for many years and was a member of the American Institute of CPA's. Tom was a member of the Austin Country Club and a parishioner of Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church for thirty-four years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alberta Heinz Board. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Anna Jenks Board; his daughter, Ellen Marie Board, of Austin; his sons, Tom Board and wife Martha of Austin, Michael Board of Houston, and Marty Board and wife Shannon of Midland. He is survived by his grandchildren, Tres, Ashton and James Board, and their mother Michelle, all of Austin; Martin, Michael and Marshall Board, all of Midland; and Jimmy and Mark Prado of Austin. Tom is also survived by his brothers, James Board of McAllen, and Jerry Board and wife June of Clarksville, Indiana. Tom and Anna were married on August 29, 1959, in New Albany, Indiana, and soon after moved to Austin. Anna was the love of Tom's life and he was hers. Tom was first and foremost a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy was time spent at home with his family. He also enjoyed playing golf with his sons, grandsons and many friends. Tom's love for life radiated in his outgoing personality and in the joy of his smile. He treasured his friends, and treated his clients with loyalty and respect. The family will receive visitors at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, March 5, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Fred Bomar officiating. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park. Pallbearers are John Amey, Don Smith, Tom Langley, Teddy Ashcraft, Lonnie Brantley, and Fred Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Coffman, John Vail, Joe Shirfey and Larry Bosserman. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
