

Thomas Paul McCann of Lakeway, Texas passed away on July 16, 2003 in Austin, Texas. He was born on November 11, 1921 near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Francis and Lucille McCann. He earned his Masters Degree from the Colorado School of Mines following World War II. Prior to his 38-year career as a geologist with the Royal Dutch Shell Oil Company, he was a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He served his country proudly and was awarded 11 victory medals and three Bronze Battle Stars for his four year participation in the Pacific Campaign. He was a world traveler. Both for his career and later for pleasure, he visited many countries on all continents except the South Pole. He was involvled for over 10 years with a local food bank in Lakeway. He was a member of the U.S. Geological Society for over 50 years, the Knights of Columbus, and the Lakeway Mens Breakfast Club. Tom is survived by his lifetime love, friend and wife of 55 years, Elizabeth D. McCann, daughters Susan Tuholske and son-in-law, Ronald Tuholske, and Virginia Garrett, son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Janet McCann, two grandchildren, Jennifer Garrett and Marissa McCann, brother, Frank McCann, and sister, Margie Koenig, as well as nine nieces and nephews, and a host of loved ones and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association located at 1700 Rutherford Lane, Austin, Texas 78754. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2003 at the Emmaus Catholic Church located at 1718 Lohmans Crossing, Lakeway, Texas 78734.
