Thomas J. Ney Thomas Jerome Ney passed away peacefully, at home, on May 31, 2008 in Austin, Texas. He was born in 1925 in Hondo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Sr., and Dora; his older brother, Edmund Jr., his twin sister, Dorothy Pichel, and most recently by his best friend and companion of over 30 years, Maxine Barnes. Tom attended the University of Texas, served in the U.S. Naval Reserves, and spent his retirement years attending as many University of Texas sporting events, football games, and celebrations as he possibly could. He is survived by many loved ones, including his sister, Patricia and her family, brother Charles, son Mark Ney and wife Susan, daughter Nancy McIntire and husband Andrew Nietupski, daughter Mary McIntire, son Tom McIntire, grandson John Ney and wife Melissa, granddaughter Katie Ney and husband Zach Zezulka, and a great granddaughter Lorelei Ney, as well as a large number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family, Greg and Jan Barnes, and Julie and Don Dean, and their families. Tom was very appreciative of the help he received from the entire staff of Barton Hills Assisted Living and most recently, from the team at Hospice Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78759. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 12:00 Noon.
