

THOMAS PIERCE RUNNELLS, age 37, of Austin, Texas, and Key Largo, Florida, passed away in Austin on Thursday, the 6th of September, 2007. Pierce was born in Houston, Texas, on February 20, 1970. He is survived by his loving parents, Nancy and Clive Runnells; sister, Helen Runnells DuBois and husband Ray; brother, Clive Runnells III and wife Kathryn; sister, Amy Firestone Goodrich and husband Hart; brother, David Morgan Firestone; brother, Jeffrey Bryan Firestone and wife Heather; brother, Calvin Baxter Garwood III and wife Sally; brother, John Morgan Garwood; sister, Anne Garwood Conner and husband Tom; numerous nieces and nephews, and one great-nephew. Pierce attended St. Johns School in Houston, St. Pauls School in Concord, New Hampshire, the University of Texas at Austin, and St. Edwards University. He was a member of Ocean Reef Club, Iron City Fishing Club, and Barton Creek Country Club. Pierce was a loving and generous person, closely involved in charitable and other philanthropic endeavors, including Meals on Wheels, The Gathering Place, Project Transitions, Hope House of Austin, St. Pauls School, St. Edwards University, Zachary Scott Theatre Center, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Austin History Center Association, the ICFC Charitable Gift Fund, and Mission Connect (a project of TIRR Foundation), and he took great pleasure in supporting these efforts personally and through his foundation. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. The memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, the 17th of September, in the main sanctuary of The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard, in Houston, with the Reverend Laurens A. Hall officiating. Following the service, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the adjacent Sumners Hall.
