Harley attended Anderson and McNeil High Schools and studied engineering at Texas Tech University. He worked as a roofing contractor up to his passing, and recently achieved the position of Department Director. His colleagues admired him for his kindness, professionalism, and wisdom—and even now they’re raising a glass in his honor.
He embraced his Greek heritage and learned to make the best baklava you could ever eat, boldly experimenting with his great grandmother’s recipe and putting the Greek restaurants to shame. He studied the Bible, tipped generously, and loved poker, frisbee golf, and Words with Friends. If you got to know him a little he’d cook you something delicious in his smoker. He was a talented pool player too, who bounced on the balls off his feet as he circled the table, offered a joke, and smiled sheepishly as he knocked in shot after shot.
Harley had a big heart and a gentle soul. When you were with him, you felt loved—he was that kind of guy. And because he was so kind and easy-going, he left you looking inward, thinking about how you might be kinder to others yourself.
Harley is survived by his father Vaughn Stenis, his mother Kathy Kleiss, his sisters, Sally Brown and Sophia Wurz, and three nieces and two nephews.
