Tula Joan Neighbors McCormick went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Allan H. Neighbors, Jr. Tula was born October 5, 1950 in Austin, Texas, and attended Casis Elementary School, O. Henry Middle School, and Austin High School. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1974, married, and thereafter became a homemaker, devoting herself to raising her daughter.
Tula was a vibrant free spirit, adventurous, had a great sense of humor, was a talented pianist and gardener, and loved her family and the Lord deeply. For years, she volunteered at St. David’s as a greeter and in the waiting room, making sure each visitor felt attended to and important. It was a role she cherished.
Tula was loved by many and leaves behind treasured friends and family including her daughter, Molly McCormick Johnson and grandson Benjamin of Coppell, and former husband Patrick Lee McCormick of Austin; her brother, Allan H. Neighbors, III and wife Nancy of Wimberley; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall, 3208 Exposition Blvd., Austin, Texas 78703 (Covid precautions, including masks, will be in place). Graveside services will be held immediately following at Memorial Hill Park Cemetery, Howard Lane and IH-35, in Pflugerville.
