She grew up on the family ranch in Oak Hill, Texas with her siblings Amelia, Carl, and Carlene. As a youth, she was a proud 4-H’er and Austinite who began her schooling at Oak Hill Elementary and graduated from William B. Travis High School in 1961.
As a young adult, one of her first jobs was working at the Texas State Capitol for The Secretary of State’s Office which she very much enjoyed, but then decided she needed a change of pace. She then moved to Houston, Texas where she worked at Holland Mortgage and through a group of friends she found the love of her life, Adrian Alois Kutra, whom she married on August 31st, 1974 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Austin, Texas. They were married for 32 years until his passing in 2007.
Ursula & Adrian settled in Sugarland, Texas. They started their family in 1976 with the birth of their daughter Laura Deanna and then grew it with the birth of their son, Aaron Adrian, born in 1979. In 1986, Ursula & her husband moved the family to Sealy, Texas to raise their children. Once her children were older, she returned to work as a tour guide at a Dewberry Farm in Brookshire, Texas and then finally as a Court Clerk for the town of San Felipe, Texas.
In 2015, she moved back to Austin, Texas to be closer to her children & family where she attended Abiding Love Lutheran Church. As her body aged, she resided at Brookdale Beckett Meadows in Austin, The Philomena in Kyle, and Acclaimed Senior Living in San Marcos. She was able to try to stay as independent as possible with the help of numerous healthcare workers. She finally came to rest for the last year of her life with Heart to Heart Hospice at The Carehouse of The Yellow Rose in New Braunfels, Texas where she was treated like family by the excellent caregivers Ging Mendoza, Ron McGlothlin and their devoted staff.
