Veronica Lois Knights Newman

Veronica “Vicky” Lois Newman was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Vicky passed away on September 18, 2021 at the age of 72, after a courageous battle with heart disease.           

She was born to Edgar Samuel and Geneva Marion Knights on February 19, 1949, in Washington, DC and spent the majority of her life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After focusing on raising her three children, she became a geriatric nurse and spent her career serving the needs of older adults. She touched so many families with her kind and caring nature.     

Nothing was more important to Vicky than her family. She spent every moment she could cooking, watching movies and playing games with her grandchildren; Nana was the coolest! Vicky also enjoyed taking pictures, and was known as the family photographer.     

Vicky is survived by her three daughters, “her girls”; Sonya Henderson, Nichole Warren (Darnell) and Clover Walker; six grandchildren, Raven, Marcus, Dominique, Sean, Justin and Malia and two great-grandchildren, Emerald and Shiloe. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Edgar Samuel Knights, Jr.      

In honor of a life well lived, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25th at 3:00pm in Hutto, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Heart Association in her memory.
