Vickie Rae Sommer

Vickie Rae Knudson Sommer, age 61, passed away on October 15, 2009, in Austin, Texas. She was born on August 1, 1948 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, to Hazel Genevieve Foss Knudson and Joyce Elliot Knudson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Sommer, son, Hugo Gerald Sommer, and brother, Jerry Knudson. Vickie is survived by her daughter, Sonja Fria Sommer of Austin, Texas; sister, Karen Lynn Knudson Blaser (husband, David), of Madison, Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Brooklyn Ann Sommer, of Madison, Wisconsin, and Gavin Leigh Pedersen, of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her partner, companion and brother-in-law, David Hugo Sommer. Vickie attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she met and married her husband, Charlie, and they resided in Madison, Wisconsin. Her primary occupation was as a convention planner. Vickie relocated to Austin, Texas in 2007 to be near her daughter and grandson. In her retirement she enjoyed knitting, among other interests. Vickie wished to thank all who have helped her through her final illness, especially David Sommer. The family also wishes to thank Hospice Austin and the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009, at 2:00 pm, Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 West Slaughter Lane, Austin, Texas.
