

Victor George Mustatia of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully Monday, May 24, 2010. Vic was born March 5, 1925 in Glassport, Pennsylvania to Valeria Procupp and John Mustatia. He attended school in Glassport, Pennsylvania and graduated in June, 1942. He worked at Pittsburgh Steel Foundry in Glassport, Pennsylvania until he was drafted into the Army at 18 years of age in July, 1943. He was promoted to First Sergeant on January 2, 1946 and from 1945 – 1949 he served at Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Japan. He retired from the military after 20 years of service in August, 1963. In December, 1963 Vic was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and he retired in March, 1980. He attended the University of Texas part time from 1968 to 1971. Vic accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in June, 1974. A deeply spiritual man, Vic loved to help people, and he practiced seeing a need and filling it. He was generous in his efforts to bring others to Christianity, and he felt good when he could share his time and material gifts. He was married to his wife Helen for 50 years. They resided in Austin since December, 1959. He lived in the Creedmoor area for 25 years. Vic enjoyed smoking cigars until 2004. He played pinochle at various clubs and he took up serious dancing in 1988, as a member of senior citizens dance clubs. He was a member of VFW Post 8925, American Legion Post 443, NCOA and Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his sister, Mary Mustatia Hill of Phoenix, AZ and half brother, Dan Procupp Dusa of Beaver, PA. Vic is survived by his companion since October, 1998 Marianne Hoppe; sister, Ann Stunja of Sewickley, PA and nieces and nephews. Many thanks to V.A. Dr. Joseph Spann for medical treatment after Vic's colon and lung cancer operations. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston International Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 318 26th St., McKeesport, PA 15132.
