

Walter Paul Lambert, 76, died Monday, July 5, 2021, in Austin, Texas. He was born in Glen Dale,West Virginia, to Paul Mervin and Margaret Virginia (Walters) Lambert. He grew up in Wellsburg, W.Va., and lived at various times in Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, Minnesota and Texas.
Walter had a wide and varied career ranging from 12 years in the U.S. Army as a Medical Service Corps officer, to the waste water management and financial services industries, to teaching. His work sent him to assignments overseas including Panama, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, China, Taiwan, Russia, Europe and Egypt.
Friends and family members knew him best for his ever expanding search for knowledge, love of music, photography and travel; sense of adventure, wry humor and forward looking viewpoints. He could give spur-of-the-moment detailed briefings to Army generals as well as entertaining stories that reflected his West Virginia and international background.
Throughout his life, Walter earned many honors and awards beginning with the West Virginia State Band in high school, to achievements in the scientific field. He had a bachelor's degree and master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati, a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering and a master's degree in finance and management from the University of Texas at Austin.
Walter is survived by his wife, Antoinette (Franzolino), son, Travis Walter, sister, Bj Lambert and many friends and relatives.
A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
