
Lew Ray, age 80, of Kingsland passed away on Monday, February 2, 2009. Lew shared over fifty memorable years with his loving wife, Maxcile and their three children. Lew graduated from Austin High and Texas A & M with a business degree. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force stationed at Lackland AFB. After leaving the service, Lew worked as a sales rep for the Quaker Oats Co. for over twenty-five years. He and Maxcile recently retired to Kingsland. Lew enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, family, adopted-family and friends. Lew knew no stranger and loved to sit and talk to anyone who would listen. He was a hunter and an avid golfer, which garnered him with many friendships over the years. Over the last few years Lew became a permanent fixture at the Packsaddle Golf Course in Kingsland. He shared many good times and his "hole in one" with all of his golfing buddies. Dad, we love you and will miss you dearly and so will Bogey. You will always be our "hole in one." He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; two sisters and wife. Lew is survived by his daughters, Lewanne Ray and husband Bubba, Melinda Driskell; son, Steve Ray and wife Bonnie; four grandchildren, Chris, Ashley, Alisha and Jamie; four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Taryn, Kaelyn and Tylee. The family will receive friends at Lew's home at 271 Skyview in Kingsland, Texas from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2009. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of St. David's South Hospital for treating and caring for our father over the last three weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
